General Information for events organized by The Chess Enterprise, Ltd.
THE CHESS ENTERPRISE, Ltd. (TCE) is an US Chess (USCF) affiliate. Our tournaments are rated by US Chess and players must have a current US Chess membership. TCE chess tournaments, unless otherwise advertised, follow standard rules per the U.S. Chess Federation's Official Rules of Chess.
BYES: Unless otherwise stated in tournament publicity, half-point byes must be requested before the end of registration. Advance bye requests, before arriving on site, can be requested on the Tournament Registration Form. Tournament day bye requests must be confirmed with the tournament director (TD) on site.
CHECKS: Unless otherwise stated in tournament publicity, we do not accept checks.
ELECTRONIC DEVICES: Unless otherwise stated in tournament publicity, during play, players may not have a cell phone or other electronic device capable of chess analysis or communication without the permission of the tournament director (TD) on site.
OFFICIAL RATINGS: Unless otherwise stated in tournament publicity, ratings become official when the rating supplement month and tournament month are the same. If a tournament starts in one month and ends in another, we use the ratings corresponding to the ending date. Provisionally rated players are NOT unrated. A players provisional rating (a rating based on 4 to 25 games), will be used to determine pairing and prizes.
PayPal and Square: The Chess Enterprise, Ltd uses PayPal and Square to process transactions. A PayPal account is not required for event registration, PayPal accepts credit and debit cards. It may be useful to join PayPal to receive prizes.
PRIZES: Unless otherwise stated in tournament publicity or announced on site, prizes are paid by PayPal, check or cash.
RATING REPORTS: Tournaments are generally rated within 1 to 2 hours or ASAP of the last completed game.
REFUNDS: Unless otherwise stated in tournament publicity, refunds must be requested before the end of registration for round one, minus a $5 administration charge. NO REFUND, full or partial, is given to a player who begins play in the first round.
TOURNAMENT DIRECTORS: (TDs) are certified by US Chess. Our goal is to run TCE tournaments with the highest level of ethics and integrity. In matters not explicitly covered by the rules of chess, TDs will use their best discretion and judgment, in consultation with tournament rules where appropriate.
WITHDRAWALS: To withdraw from a tournament, inform the tournament director (TD) on site or send an email at least one half hour before the start of the tournament. Please put WITHDRAW and the players name in the email subject heading.
